Public-domain material
We also research older humor collections that are verified as public domain in the United States. When an old premise is useful, we may modernize the wording, setup, or punchline for today’s readers.
Those jokes are tracked separately from original work, including the source title, source URL, publication year, rights status, and adaptation notes.
What we do not scrape
We do not bulk-copy jokes from modern joke websites, social-media posts, Reddit, commercial joke books, or sources with unclear reuse rights.
Source records
Our current public-domain research includes historical collections available through repositories such as Project Gutenberg and the Library of Congress. Internal provenance records are preserved so the origin and rights basis of adapted material can be audited later.
