Email subscriptions

If you subscribe, we store your email address, subscription status, signup source, and consent timestamp so we can send AnimalJokes.com emails and manage your subscription.

You may unsubscribe from future marketing emails using the unsubscribe option provided in those messages once email delivery begins.

Joke submissions

If you submit a joke, we store the joke, the email address you provide, your selected public credit preference, optional location, consent to the submission terms, moderation status, and related review records.

Your email address is not displayed publicly. If a submission is published, we display only the credit information you selected. You may choose anonymous credit instead.

Checking the optional email-marketing box on the submission form also subscribes that email address to AnimalJokes.com emails. Submitting a joke by itself does not subscribe you to marketing.

Security and abuse-prevention data

When a joke is submitted, we may temporarily record limited technical information associated with the request, including the IP address, a one-way keyed hash of the IP address, browser or user-agent information, request identifiers, and the date and time of the submission. We use this information for spam prevention, abuse detection, fraud prevention, service security, and investigation of credible threats or other serious misuse.

Raw IP addresses and related short-term request metadata are normally retained for up to 30 days. Unless a security hold applies, that short-term data is scheduled for removal after the retention period. A one-way keyed IP hash may be retained longer to identify patterns of repeated abuse without routinely retaining the raw IP address.

If a submission is reasonably connected to a credible threat, security incident, legal obligation, dispute, or lawful investigation, we may place the relevant record on a preservation hold. A hold can preserve the original submission and associated technical and moderation records beyond the normal retention period for as long as reasonably necessary. The hold is released when the preservation need ends.

Analytics

We may use privacy-focused site analytics to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, conversions, sharing activity, and site performance. Analytics data is used to improve AnimalJokes.com and is not intended to identify individual visitors.

Site infrastructure

The site uses third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, database services, analytics, and related technical operations. Those providers may process limited technical data required to deliver the service securely and reliably.

Data retention and security

We retain subscription and submission records as reasonably needed for operations, moderation, rights documentation, compliance, security, and recordkeeping. Short-term security metadata follows the retention approach described above. We use access controls and managed infrastructure intended to protect stored data, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes

This policy may be updated as AnimalJokes.com adds new features, commerce, advertising, or other services. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
